Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights Triumphs Over Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles In Late-Game Victory

Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights topped Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles 5-4 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the top of the seventh when Jackson Ford hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles were the first to get on the board in the first when Brody Hetherington tripled, scoring one run.
Mason Mowery grounded out, which helped Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights tie the game at one in the top of the third.
A double by Bryce Caswell gave Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights the lead, 3-1, in the top of the fourth.
An error gave Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth.
Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the seventh after Mason Mowery hit a sacrifice fly, and Jackson Ford hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Tate Lutz earned the win for Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights. The hurler surrendered five hits and four runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking four. #26 took the loss for Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles. The hurler went one inning, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Joon Kang stepped on the mound first for Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over three innings, striking out five and walking four. Carter Kenyon tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights in relief. The hurler allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Mason Mowery provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights with two runs batted in. Carter Kenyon and Caden Kenyon were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Hempfield Junior Varsity Black Knights while hitting back-to-back.
Ben Snyder went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles in hits. Brody Hetherington and Linkin Mickley each drove in one run for Cumberland Valley Junior Varsity Eagles.
