Hempfield Varsity Black Knights Triumphs Over Garden Spot Varsity Spartans In Late-Game Victory

Hempfield Varsity Black Knights snatched the lead late in their 4-3 victory over Garden Spot Varsity Spartans on Friday. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when Brayden Gebhard singled, scoring one run.
Brayden Rishell, Brayden Gebhard, and Landon Charles at the bottom of Hempfield Varsity Black Knights's lineup combined for four of the team's six hits in their victory. They scored zero runs and drove in two.
A ground out by Landon Charles put Hempfield Varsity Black Knights on the board in the bottom of the second.
Garden Spot Varsity Spartans captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the third when Zander Clymer singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.
Hempfield Varsity Black Knights took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by Landon Charles, and Brayden Gebhard.
Jaxsen Hulock earned the win for Hempfield Varsity Black Knights. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Gavin Crego took the loss for Garden Spot Varsity Spartans. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering one run on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Logan Dougherty started on the hill for Hempfield Varsity Black Knights. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Jake Speers started on the mound for Garden Spot Varsity Spartans. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two.
Number eight hitter, Brayden Gebhard, showed the depth of Hempfield Varsity Black Knights's lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Hempfield Varsity Black Knights ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
